Getting started with KonductorThis document provides and overview of getting started with the Konductor AIR application. The Konductor application enables website editors to easily manage the content of their site through a clean and user friendly interface. The application manages the content of Dreamweaver templates (*.dwt files) that are uploaded to Konductor's servers through the Konductor Extension for Dreamweaver. For more information on how to get started with this extension please see the Konductor Extension for Dreamweaver getting started guide.
The Konductor AIR application can be downloaded through your web account, or this link: http://download.konductor.net/application/ To install the application, you'll need Adobe AIR installed. The application will prompt you to download this when it first tries to install, but AIR can also be downloaded here. Once the application has been downloaded and AIR is working to install it, select 'Run' and AIR will place the Konductor in the correct location on your computer. Once the application has been downloaded, you can log into a site using either the designer account that created the site, or using an administrator account associated with the site. Administrator accounts are created by a site's designer, and then the main administrator may create more administrators thereafter. Designer accounts can be created online here. After you have logged in, you may create a new page by clicking Add Page. If the site's designer has uploaded templates to build pages from, you will see these as thumbnails in the Add Page window. Select your template, give the new page, then click add and your page will be created. Once your page shows up amongst All Pages, you may double click on it's thumbnail to open the page for editing. Regions of the page that are editable will be highlighted when clicked on. Gray bars will be labeled with instructions on whether they're to be used to modify or add a menu or form. Once edits have been made to a page, you may save the changes by clicking on Save Changes at the top of the editing window. To save the page and then immediately preview the page in the browser, click Save and Preview. This will launch your default browser to view the page as it looks online. To view a page that is not being edited, select a page and then click on Preview in the bottom right of the Page Properties panel.
